BMW have let loose the M235i sports coupé – the latest model from the M Division family.
The new car is, in every detail, a proper successor to the much-loved 1M Coupé: a car highly regarded as a petrolhead essential by many. The all-new 2014 M235i brings a signature BMW straight-six engine, complete with an M-spec TwinPower Turbo blowing out 326 PS and 450 Nm of torque. Then there’s the 6-speed manual transmission driving the rear-wheels, seem familiar? Add the aggressive design, big air intakes and sleek but muscular design highlights and it does make for quite a sight,
Take into account the size and you see where the 0-100 km/h time of 5.0 seconds comes from. And then you realise that the M235i is still a compact car. That gives it an everyday usability which is hard to match. Worried about the stick shift? The M235i can also be specified with an 8-speed automatic box and launch control. The fuel consumption figure is as low as 13.2 km/l for the automatic version. Not bad for spirited 3.0-litre turbo-six.
The all-new 2 Series should be in India next year and we sure hope this top-of-the-chain M model also makes it to our shores. Fingers crossed.
