Honda’s small car concept for India was displayed at the Auto Expo earlier this year, where it stole the limelight from its major rival, the Toyota Etios. Codenamed ‘2CV’, the Honda will be an entry-level hatchback based on a completely new platform.
Making full use of the excise benefits the 2CV will be four metres long and will sport a one-litre motor. The motor will be a three-cylinder version of the 1.2-litre engine that powers the Jazz, but without the VTEC technology. However, the car’s light weight, aerodynamic design and other new-age technologies will make it very fuel-efficient and responsive. Expect a smart cabin design that will also be high on comfort and safety. We just hope the car is also priced smartly in the Rs 5 lakh bracket and expect it to be launched in India early next year.
