Ford India have introduced their sub-4 metre compact sedan, the Figo Aspire, from an enticing Rs 4.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Figo Aspire is the first sub-4 metre sedan from the American manufacturer, which is rolling out of the company’s plant in Sanand, Gujarat. This is Ford India’s third sedan after the Classic and Fiesta.
The Figo Aspire is offered with the choice of three powertrains and four trim levels. It also packs a lot of equipment in the higher end models, with basic safety and convenience features such as dual front airbags, front and rear adjustable headrests, tilt-adjustable steering, six-speed wipers, keyless entry and front power windows offered as standard. ABS with EBD is available on the Titanium and Titanium+ variants, as is automatic climate, a perimeter alarm, six airbags and alloy wheels, with the Titanium PowerShift AT model getting an electronic stability program, traction control and hill launch assist too.
The petrol variants are powered by a Ti-VCT 1.2-litre petrol motor, which, with twin independent variable camshaft timing, gets a bump up in power to 88 PS, with 112 Nm of torque. The automatic variant has a 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol (from the Fiesta) with 112 PS and 136 Nm going through a twin-clutch six-speed automatic unit. The diesel is the familiar 1.5-litre TDCi motor which now also gets a bump-up in power and torque – up to 100 PS and 215 Nm. All variants run 175/65 R14 rubber.
