He is probably the greatest player of this generation, and will definitely go down as one of the all time greats when the time comes for him to hang up his boots. I am, of course talking about Lionel Messi. The mercurial Barcelona and Argentina forward wont just go down in history as one of the most explosive and talented footballers of all time, he will also be remembered as the first ever global superstar footballer still plying his trade to associate himself with an Indian automotive brand (no, Del Piero doesn’t count). Tata inform us that this is a “long term” partnership and Messi will promote their passenger car division across the globe.
Of course, this isn’t the first time the fleet-footed Argentinean has endorsed an Asian car company, having associated himself with Chinese brand Chery in 2010. He also promotes the likes of Adidas, Samsung and Turkish Airlines among other products, so Tata Motors is the latest in what is a healthy portfolio.
Speaking regarding this association, the four-time Ballon d’Or winner had this to say: “Namaste India. I am very excited about my first association with an Indian brand and am extremely thrilled to be a part of the Tata Motors family. I have always been fascinated by India and have heard such great things about this diverse country. I was once in India with Argentina National Team and I hope to visit it again. Tata Motors is a true representation of India and a well-established brand, globally. It is important to believe in yourself and keep pushing to achieve success and that is what the first campaign stands for. I hope together we are able to inspire many more.”
Tata have even launched a little video featuring the Atomic Flea, and you can watch it below.
