A wrongful death and negligence lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles yesterday by Kristine Rodas – widowed wife of Roger Rodas, who was driving the Porsche Carrera GT on the fateful day of his and celebrated actor Paul Walker’s crash. The lawsuit was filed against Porsche Cars North America, and claims that defects in the design of the car, including a lack of appropriate crash cage, and a safety mechanism in the petrol tank, coupled with a faulty suspension were the reasons behind the crash and both the actor and his friend’s death.
The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages as a result of the crash, and the claim goes against the police report submitted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and California Highway Patrol released in March, which cited excessive speeding as the cause of the crash.
Rodas and ‘The Fast and the Furious’ star Walker co-owned an auto racing team called Always Evolving, and Rodas’ wife also claims that he was a trained race car driver as part the lawsuit. Porsche have not released a statement in response to the lawsuit as yet.
