Hyundai mulling over shifting the i20Ãs production to Europe.
Hyundai launched the premium i20 in the Indian market last December and is exporting the car to the overseas market as well. However, lately, they have been having issues with the labour union, due to which production at the manufacturing plant located near Chennai was shut down for two-weeks last month.
Currently, the company is thinking of shifting the i20’s production base to Europe and a decision is expected to be taken in a month’s time. The decision will be influenced by the company not getting export incentives from Indian government and a lack of port infrastructure to support surging exports. However, Hyundai will continue to use the facility near Chennai for the domestic market.
