Datsun are set to get Go-ing with their new plant in Chennai commencing production of the all-new entry-hatchback today.
The entry-brand of the Renault-Nissan alliance, Datsun was revived to rejuvenate sales in the small-car segment with an offering which would take on established big names head-on. The first car to be revealed with the badge was the Go hatchback.
The Go is expected to be powered by the same engine which powers the Micra and Pulse hatchbacks – a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol – paired to a manual transmission. The Go is set to feature an essential list of basics while offering typically Japanese reliability and refinement levels, at a price tag which will be hard to ignore.
The company also stated that they will present the Datsun Go at the 12th Auto Expo, together with the Go+ MPV and a new design concept which will reveal the styling path the company will employ over the coming years. Datsun have also confirmed more new cars before 2015. The Go hatchback launches in March.
