AN1_2013DAIMLER1A UNIQUE COLLABORATION ACROSS three continents and three companies will definiely help identify global specifications and component standards.

In order to make this a reality, Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company and Renault-Nissan have signed a three-way agreement for the joint development of common fuel cell system to boost the availability of zero-emission technology and significantly reduce investment costs.

Their collaboration is expected to lead to the launch of the world’s first affordable, mass-market fuel cell electric vehicles. Daimler, Ford and Renault- Nissan have more than 60 years of cumulative experience developing FCEVs. Their FCEVs have completed more than 10 million km in test drives around the world. Their strategy is to maximise design commonality, leverage volume and derive efficiencies through economies of scale and they plan to launch
the world’s first affordable, mass-market FCEVs as early as in 2017. This is a clear signal to suppliers, policy-makers and the industry to encourage further development of hydrogen infrastructure worldwide.
