GM expected to launch their fourth hatchback by September
GENERAL MOTORS India (GM) will be launching their fourth small car in the country, a premium hatchback called Sail, by July-September 2012.
It may be recalled that the Sail range of cars were sold in India some years ago under the Opel brand-name, also owned by GM, which were later withdrawn from the market on account of a lukewarm response. Currently GM India are offering cars under the Chevrolet marque, such as the Tavera MPV, Cruise sedan, Beat and Spark hatchbacks.
Speaking to the media, S Sawhney, Vice-president (Sales), said that the company would launch the Chevrolet Sail in the third quarter and that small cars along with multi-purpose vehicles (MPV) would continue to be GM’s main focus.
Also on the cards is a new version of the Chevrolet Captiva and a new MPV that were displayed along with the Sail at the Auto Expo 2012 and had generated a lot of interest.
