16-thu-ci-june-2011_12BMW India showcased their hybrid super car concept, BMW Vision EfficientDynamics (ED), at Deutsche Motoren in the national capital.

Present at the event was Praful Patel, Minister for Heavy Industries, and German Ambassador Thomas Matussek. The concept car is a road-ready, four seater, diesel-based hybrid sports car which is powered by a three-cylinder turbo diesel engine coupled with a hybrid synchronous motor at the front axle and a full hybrid engine at the rear axle.

The specially designed lithium polymer rechargeable battery fitted in the car can be fully charged using a conventional power socket within just two-and-a-half hours. The overall hybrid system churns out a power output of 241 kW/328 bhp. BMW’s ActiveHybrid Technology enables the performance figures of 0 to 100 km/h in merely 4.8 seconds while the achievable top speed is 250 km/h.
The concept may hit the roads by 2013.
