First indigenous manufacturer to supply batteries to Hispania Racing Team
Country’s Ledding battery manufacturers, Base Batteries, will now officially supply batteries to the Hispania F1 team during the India GP.
This makes the company the first Indian battery-makers to supply batteries to an F1 team. Narain Karthikeyan will be driving the car equipped with these batteries in the Indian GP this year.
Aditya Arora, COO, Base Batteries, said that the batteries specifi cally developed for this sport use high-end silver technology, which completely eliminates the need to add water. He further said that the company had a budget of USD 3 million. The company is also looking at manufacturing batteries for the EV industry – lead acid batteries for two-wheelers and silicon gel ones for four-wheelers – in the near future.
