As its cartoon namesake – Atom Ant has demonstrated many a time, explosive power can come in small packages. The Ariel Atom is one insane track vehicle, which showcases a perfect combination of power, balance and speed, all from a relatively pint-sized power plant. The Atom is a mad car on the track, but Ariel wanted to have some fun in the rough and tumble, and so the Nomad was born.
The Ariel Nomad is more of an off-road buggy, which derives its inspiration from its track-focused sibling. The official renderings of the Nomad indicate that this go-anywhere car will come equipped with a souped-up suspension to take in all those bumps, and grippier tyres to help maintain control. A roll cage, a full-fledged windscreen, spare wheel, wench, and a row of halogen lights have all been included to add to the Nomad’s off-road worthiness too.
Even though Ariel have kept the engine specs for the Nomad under wraps, we can expect this beast to receive its grunt from the same 2.4-litre mill that powers the Atom 3S, and it could churn out anything between 200 PS – 500 PS. Ariel will unveil this dirt-buster on the 6th of January 2015, so watch this space, because we’ll bring you all the details on what should be a mad off-road machine.
