German automakers Audi have expanded their Indian portfolio with the launch of the S5 Sportback. In time to cash in on the usually spendthrift festive season, Audi have launched the car at Rs 62.95 lakh ex-showroom, Mumbai. The V6 3-litre TFSI Quattro engine makes 333 PS and a twist figure of 440 Nm, and this, mated to Audi’s signature S Tronic dual-clutch transmission allows the car to do a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.1s and hit an electronically limited ceiling speed of 250 km/h.
Speaking about the launch, Joe King, Head, Audi India said, “The Audi S5 Sportback is an extremely attractive proposition for customers desiring sportiness with practicality. The Audi S5 Sportback brings cutting edge technology in an efficient, sporty and powerful style while ensuring an exhilarating driving experience with no compromise on fuel efficiency. Audi is a brand that has several firsts to its credit. We introduced the first compact luxury open top convertible the Audi A3 Cabriolet, India’s first production car with laser high beam lighting: the limited edition Audi R8 LMX, first super sportscar with an Avant body type, the Audi RS 6 Avant and now the Audi S5 Sportback, a first in its segment will further strengthen our performance car portfolio in India.”
As with most other cars that make up India’s luxury portfolio, the S5 is an Alcantara leather-wrapped car, rich in features including a 3D navigation capable 7-inch screen, and the sound is built to make a bang, as the Bang & Olufsen sound system features a 10-channel amplifier and 14 speakers producing a total 505 watt-output. Safety is covered through eight airbags, including two covering the rear-side. The rear centre armrest also holds a first-aid kit, among other things.
The Audi S5 Sportback joins 19 other Audi models on sale in India, and is available across Audi outlets the nation-over.
