Seven years after Yokohama ventured into India, the company is now ready to roll off the first batch of its tyres at the plant in Bahadurgarh, Haryana which was inaugurated in February this year. The facility has cost Yokohama an investment of 300 cr and will have an installed capacity of 2000 tyres/day. This figure can be tripled or even quadrupled in the subsequent phases of the plants’ development.
The flagship model of Yokohama will be the Yokohama Earth-1 which has been specifically designed keeping Indian road conditions and weather in mind. This model will come in 25 different sizes to cater to the various segments. The more performance oriented S-Drive model will be available in 10 sizes.
Yokohama India will face stiff competition from established brands in the country.
