Aspi Bhathena, Editor

Our editor started out as a motorcycle racer but became an automotive journalist in the late 90s. He has been at Car India since our inception in 2005. Aspi grew up in a family that was devoted to cars, motorcycles and motorsport. The early part of his career was spent building and racing motorcycles. He is the only Indian to have participated and finished in the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy. He is also among the founding members of the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) award. Among his peers, his technical knowledge is unmatched because in addition to keeping himself updated with the latest technology, he continues to work hands-on to this day. His experience, ethics and expertise ensure that our content is accurate and meaningful.

Jim Gorde, Deputy Editor

Jim has been at Car India since 2013 but his interest in cars began at an early age. He keeps himself updated with the latest news and innovations in the field. With an archive of data that many would kill for and a memory that rarely lets him down, he is the man to go to when one is confused about which car to buy. His happy place is belting around a racetrack in a Porsche GT car or in the driver’s seat of an Isuzu D-Max V-Cross. He is also an active ICOTY member. He hopes to one day commission his own Zonda and meet the living legend Horacio Pagani himself.

Joshua Varghese, Principal Correspondent and Digital Lead

Joshua is an engineer by training but he decided to pursue his love of riding motorcycles and racing instead, so that he could see for himself what engineering is capable of in the real world. Joshua joined the team in 2016 and it quickly became evident that he was a natural in this position. He has an algorithmic approach to each vehicle which helps him deliver distinct and consistent reviews. His quest for knowledge is flanked by his passion for motorcycling and driving and experiencing a variety of cars. He is responsible for managing our digital content and has become a unique and popular online presence. His dream is to be able to drive without having to watch out for potholes, stray animals, jaywalkers and careless motorists every few seconds.

Charan Karthik, Correspondent

Charan is among our latest recruits. He joined the team in 2023 and is learning the ropes quickly to be able to uphold Car India’s standards in his daily duties. In addition to road tests, Charan is also among those who bring you the latest news and most interesting spec comparisons of new cars in the market. He is happiest when he is travelling and his dream is to live in a small town in Europe, sip coffee, and own a Koenigsegg.

Gaurav Davare, Correspondent

Gaurav joined us in 2024 but has four years of experience as a car journalist. In his teens, he raced in the JK Tyre National Rotax Max Karting Championship and won the Rookie Cup championship in his first year and in the top five in the Senior Max category the following season. He has tried a hand at all of our content and is among our most consistent contributors. He says he is most happy when he is at a racetrack and that his dream is to be among the best motorsport journalists in the world.

Sayantan De, Correspondent
