Apart from the awesome off-roading environment, the other impressive part was the mean off-road machines. I was surprised to see the level of modifications and the effort put in by each team to make their off-road devil more capable of tackling this challenge. Here Force Motors really stood a class apart. The level of modifications in terms of suspension, steering system, off-road tyres, and the engine made the Gurkha look like a monster; so much so the Gurkha easily dwarfed the rest of the line-up.
After seven excruciating days in the jungle completing 26 SS, the Gurkhas reigned supreme. Once again the factory Gurkha, driven by Tang Eng Joo and Tan Choon Hong, won the first place, with Mervyn Lim and Hamizan Bin Abdul Hamid close on their heels. Following in third was Kabir Waraich and Yuvraj Tiwana who put up a tough fight throughout the competition.
The 2015 Rain Forest Challenge was a well-organised event and is a wonderful platform for off-road enthusiasts to showcase their machines and their talent in a competitive environment. Off-roading is like an addiction — it might appear to be crazy from the outside, but once you’re bitten by the bug, the flat tarmac just seems boring by comparison.
