Maruti Suzuki, who are among the largest producers of passenger cars in India, have surpassed 1.5 million units sold in 2016-17. The company sold 139,763 units in March 2017 and have registered a domestic sales growth of 10.7 per cent during the fiscal year.
Maruti Suzuki ended 2016-17 with their highest ever total sales of 1,568,603 units, a growth of 9.8 per cent over the previous year. This comprises the highest ever domestic sales of 1,444,541 units and export sales were registered at 124,062 units. The launch of the new Vitara Brezza has been credited with providing the company its large growth during the last fiscal year. In contrast the Mini segment which comprises of the Alto and WagonR saw a drop in sales of 4.4 percent with a total of 413,981 units sold which is 18,996 units less than the previous year.
