Jaguar Land Rover is creating the groundwork for a prosperous future. The British luxury carmaker is collaborating with NVIDIA to create a new software-based platform that will power a variety of driving tasks and in-car experiences.
Some may recall NVIDIA as a graphics card manufacturer. While the on-screen graphics of Jaguar and Land Rover will undoubtedly be stunning, NVIDIA is also a leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI).
“Next-generation cars will transform automotive into one of the largest and most advanced technology industries. Fleets of software-defined, programmable cars will offer new functionalities and services for the life of the vehicle,” Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang said.
NVIDIA DRIVE will be standard on all new Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles starting in 2025. Next-generation automatic driving systems, AI services, and better visualisation of the vehicle’s environment will all be possible with the new platform. Active safety features, automated parking, and driver and occupant monitoring are all included.
The full-stack solution is built on NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion technology for the more technically curious. This serves as the car’s central nervous system, feeding data to its ‘brain,’ which is known as DRIVE Orin. The Jaguar Land Rover operating system is then run by the artificially intelligent brain.
