The real deal is the car’s interior. Even though it sports a conventional-looking black dashboard, your eyes instantly light up as they feast on the 6.2” two-DIN touchscreen infotainment system. The digital instrument cluster in this EV is also quite futuristic with its blue back-lit digital display unit. Power windows, electric mirrors and power-steering all complete the revamped look. Did I forget to mention the rear-view camera and the Mahindra Reva e2o App? Indeed, both are the icing on the cake (and make you feel as if you’re in a big car).
The Reva e2o is powered by a 48V Lithium-ion battery, which powers a DC motor that drives the rear wheels. It produces an output of 19kW (25.5 PS) and 55 Nm respectively. Range (mileage) has always been a USP for EVs all over the world and this car is no exception: it boasts of a decent range of over 100 kilometres before getting completely drained. Even when you have the air-conditioner at full blast it will still manage to return 85 kilometres to the charge.
Charging the car is like child’s play and you don’t need to know rocket science just because it’s an EV. It’s as simple as charging your mobile phone: all you need to do is just plug the on-board charger into a 15-Amp port and you are good to go. The e2o T2 premium variant has something called the ‘Quick2Charge’ feature which lets your car get completely charged in only an hour (it usually takes five).
The car comes to life via a smart key which activates the e2o’s key-less ignition system. The car doesn’t growl nor does it purr, it’s silent even on start-up. The power steering feels very light. The short turning radius of this car is a boon while manoeuvring out of cramped parking spaces.
