Audi begins assembling the Q5 in Aurangabad
After A4 and A6, Audi have begun to assemble their compact SUV, the Q5, in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
Referring to it as a part of their long-term growth strategy in India, the company expects better sales figures from this market leading model. Audi, who term it the the right automobile at the right time, are looking forward to the growth of the Indian automotive industry and the Q5’s success in the segment.
With the indigenous assembly of the Q5, the annual production volume of the company will rise to 2,400 units from 732 vehicles last year. Audi seem to be positive about their plan to roll out 6,000 units by 2015.
At present the Q5 comes with two engines: 2.0 TFSI and 3.0 TDI. The company’s current line-up in the country consists of seven models – namely, the A4, A6, A8, Q5, Q7, TT coupe and the supercar R8.
