Audi rebadge range

Audi Badging web

Audi India have introduced the new nomenclature for their engine badging for their ‘A’ and ‘Q’ model lines for both TFSI petrol and TDI diesel variants. While the earlier technique used displacement, the current one takes into account everything from power output, acceleration, performance, weight and possibly even size. Although the exact formula for its calculation has not yet been disclosed, the changes are here to stay. The Q3 S Edition, TT, S4, S6, RS 5, RS 7, R8 and the A8L W12 continue with their nomenclature for now.

Multiple badges for a similar engine are not a new style at all. For instance, BMW have been badging their 2.0-litre turbo-diesel motor with 18d, 20d, 23d and 25d, while their 3.0-litre diesel motor, offered with one, two and even three turbos use 30d, 35d, 40d and 50d.
