AC14_2012EV-Concept1Volkswagen to enter second-hand car market
In 2011 Volkswagen recorded an impressive 140 per cent sales growth, a big achievement for a relatively new player in the Indian automotive market.

VW succeeded in selling about 80,000 cars in 2011 with the Polo and the Vento dominating the charts. Volkswagen also opened 31 new dealerships and continued to come up with new ones.

This upswing has given the German giant the confidence to venture into
the pre-owned car business in India. VW have decided to bring in their used car brand, DasWeltAuto, to India.

The used car market is gaining considerable momentum. Many major car-makers like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Toyota, Chevrolet and Honda are already present in this market. Volkswagen will be the latest entrant in this market.
VW believe that having their presence in the used car market will help the company to increase the value of the brand in India and also create a standard for inspecting and certifying VW cars in India.
VW DasWelt is expected to commence operations by mid-2012.
