The Maruti Suzuki Swift was launched in 2005 and since then has been one of the most sought-after offerings in the hatchback segment in India. Currently on sale is the third-generation, the brand has managed to sell a total of more than 2.2 million cars since the first-generation model was launched. All three generations of the Swift have bagged an ICOTY award in the year they were introduced making it one of the only cars to win the prestigious award three times.

The third-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift is distinguished by its sweptback LED headlamps, an aggressive front grille and cockpit-style interiors. I-create is an initiative offered by the manufacturer enabling a consumer to personalize their Swift. The company has revealed that this feature is a favorite among the younger car buyers and has helped the Swift get close to 30 per cent market share and also capture pole position in the premium hatchback segment in FY 2019-20.

The Swift has also managed to get recognition in international markets by winning the Good Design Award in 2017 operated by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion and was among the three finalists at the “World Urban Car Of The Year 2018”.

Speaking on the success of Swift, Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “Brand Swift was the first model that challenged many notions around hatchbacks. More than a car, it was a refreshing new thought process. It was designed to be bold and aggressive, and at the same time be reliable and economical. It had features offered in a large car, contemporary, yet functional appealing to a younger audience. With a European touch and feel, the hatchback also embodies the sturdiness to handle Indian road conditions. It questioned the inevitability of compromise. In many ways, it was the “coming of age” of the Indian customers.”
