HB_RollingHonda Siel Cars India Ltd. (HSCI) has announced the restart of production for its Brio hatchback at its Greater Noida plant. The company had been working under severe production constraints since November 2011, post the Thailand floods.

HSCI stopped the new Brio production in January because it sourced some of its electronic and under-body car parts from Thailand. HSCI is looking at manufacturing 370 to 440 cars a day. Jnaneswar Sen, the company’s senior vice president for marketing and sales, said “Honda has been carefully monitoring the part supply process and has taken all the necessary recovery actions to normalize [the] production situation with critical components now being sourced from Japan and China.” Honda Siel can produce up to 100,000 cars a year at the Noida facility. According to the company production of the new City sedan has already resumed and said it made more than 1,500 units of the model in January. Mr. Sen added that the production of the Brio small car has also already resumed, while that of the Jazz small car will start towards soon.
