The Figo is available with three powertrain options. The petrol options include 1.2-litre manual and 1.5-litre automatic, while the 1.5-litre diesel is mated to a five-speed manual. On our way to Agra, we drove the 1.5-litre TDCi Titanium diesel variant of the Figo and returned with the 1.5-litre Ti-VCT Titanium petrol variant.

The 1.5-litre TDCi diesel powertrain is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and puts out a peak power of 100 PS and a commendable torque figure of 215 Nm. The diesel motor unleashes its colossal torque early in the rev range and plots a plateau-like curve which makes it such an eager beaver to drive around the city. Such is the availability of torque in the chunky mid-range that one does not have to shift down and can overtake with much confidence. Even on the highways, when one wishes to drive with a heavy foot, the diesel mill gladly obliges. The steering feels light and agile at low speeds; however, it lacks feel and response at triple-digit speeds. Ride quality is on the stiffer side but the Figo cushions most undulations with considerable aplomb. Given the common underpinnings, handling is along the same lines as the sedan. Floor the pedal at the apex and the Figo continues to hold the line without any nervousness. However, one cannot deny the hint of discernible body-roll. Braking duties are handled by ventilated disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear, and this set-up offers a strong progressive bite. Driver aids include ABS with EBD which is available on the top two variants: Titanium and Titanium+.
