Aston_Vanquish_smallAston Martin recently showed the world what they have been up to by unveiling their new flagship V12 2013 supercar, the new Vanquish, which will replace the current DBS when it goes on sale next year.

The new Vanquish is an important car for Aston as it is based on the new VH Generation 4 platform, which Aston have revised extensively for their new car. The new VH Gen 4 platform uses the same aluminium intensive structure that was first seen on the 2001 Vanquish. However, Gaydon has gone a step further by adding new components to keep the structure up to date. This upgraded frame is wrapped in a carbon-fibre body that is 30 per cent stiffer and lighter along with new components that include transmission, brakes and dampers.

Aston have also upgraded the V12 by fitting bigger throttle bodies, dual variable valve time (a first for Aston), new fuel pumps and air boxes that now result in an outstanding power output of 573 PS and 620 Nm. Design-wise, the Vanquish borrows cues from the exotic One-77. Components like the boomerang rear tail-lamps do remind one of the One-77. Most of the carbon-fibre body work is covered in classy paint, but components such as the front splitter and some other parts proudly show off the use of carbon-fibre. The interior also gets new-age treatment with leather upholstery made of seven different hides.

The new Vanquish will go on sale next year with a price tag of Rs 1.7 crore (excluding taxes)
