AD06_2012AN-ICON-1AD06_2012AN-ICON-2BRITISH SPORTSCAR MAKERS Aston Martin entered into a collaboration with the Italian design and engineering consultancy firm, Zagato, back in 1960 to create the iconic Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato.

Fifty years later, the two companies unveiled the V12 Zagato concept at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este show in Italy in 2011 to celebrate their fi ve-decade-long partnership. The endurance racer prototype version of the car made its début at Nürburgring last year, following which the production version was announced in a limited number for 2012.

The car has been designed by Aston Martin in Britain, but features the styling philosophy of and inputs from Zagato as well. Based on the Aston Martin V12 Vantage, it is powered by a 6.0-litre V12 engine producing 517 PS of power and 570 Nm of torque, which is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. As for performance, as claimed by the manufacturers, the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 305 km/h.

Each of the 150 units of this car will be hand-built at Aston Martin’s headquarters in Gaydon, UK, over 2,000 man-hours and will carry a price-tag of about Rs 2.6 crore (excluding taxes).
